Facility Overview

Since October 2022, IEC has been located in a new, 2,800 square foot office and laboratory facility at the Brooklyn Army Terminal complex on the Brooklyn Waterfront. This space is leased through BioBAT, a partnership which “fosters the growth of the life sciences industry and provides opportunities to work with SUNY Downstate scientists.” Located on the ground floor of our space is the BioBAT Art Space, which features a gallery promoting the intersection between science and art. Check out IEC’s features in the gallery!

IEC primarily analyzes non-potable water samples including ambient water and sediment samples collected during water quality monitoring surveys, as well as effluent, influent and other samples collected from municipal and industrial effluents as part of the commission’s wastewater treatment facility inspections. In addition, the laboratory actively pursues other opportunities to provide analytical services for partners throughout the region.
