Ruby Alcorn
Environmental Analyst

Ruby joined IEC as a seasonal intern in May 2024 following the completion of her B.A. in Biological Sciences at Connecticut College. She was promoted to Environmental Analyst in December 2024, serving as project manager for IEC’s Coordinated Volunteer Pathogen Monitoring Program where she oversees the day-to-day operations of the program and ensures its successful implementation. Her work includes training and providing ongoing support to community volunteers, conducting regular audits to maintain the programs’ integrity, and serving as a key liaison between IEC and local volunteer groups. In the lab, Ruby analyzes samples collected by volunteers for pathogenic indicators, and ensures the quality control and quality assurance goals of the programs are met. She also provides additional support to other IEC programs by performing microbiological and chemical laboratory analyses, conducting field work, and contributing to laboratory preparations.
