Jovan Snyder joined the IEC in May 2023 as a seasonal intern, and was promoted to Environmental Analyst in May 2024 following the completion of her dual degree in Bioenvironmental Engineering (B.S./B.S.) from Rutgers University. Jovan manages NPDES and SPDES compliance inspections for industrial sites and Water Resource Recovery Facilities (WRRFs) within the IEC’s District. These inspections comply with IEC’s duty to ensure any discharges into its jurisdictional waters abide by their respective water classification requirements. This safeguards the health of our tidal and coastal systems for commercial, recreational, and ecological use. Jovan also participates in field surveys for the NY/NJ Harbor Monitoring Network, the Long Island Sound Study, and Unified Water Study. Her lab work for these projects includes sonde calibration, analyses for chlorophyll-a and total residual chlorine, and data management using GIS or other relevant software.
